As soon as possible |

Decide if you want to organise the wedding yourself or use a wedding planner. | |
Decide on what type of ceremony you would like. Religious or Civil. | |
Visit venues and set a provisional wedding date. | |
Set a budget for the wedding. | |
Begin to compile a list of wedding guests. | |
Provisionally book the reception. | |
Arrange wedding insurance. | |
Consider what type of catering, hotel/bridal suite, transport, cake, wedding dress etc. that you want. Order or book where necessary. | |
Five months to go |

Choose wedding attire for matron of honour, bridesmaids and flower girls and consider any accesories that they require. | |
Choose outfits for the groom, best man, page boys, ushers and ring bearer. | |
Decide on what flowers you want, discuss quotes and requirements. Then booked preferred florist. | |
You may also want to consider children's entertainers if small children are attending the reception. | |
Four months to go |

Choose the wedding rings. | |
Finalise wedding cake design. | |
Compile a gift wish list. | |
Consider the style and colour of your hair. You may want to try our several styles before deciding on the right one. | |
Three months to go |

Order your wedding invitations. | |
Consult your hairdresser. Advise them of what you want, for example style and colour. Take along photos from magazines if necessary. | |
Two months to go |

Order remaining stationery such as Order of Services, Thank You Cards, Menus and Place Cards. |
Prepare speeches. | |
Buy a guest book if required. | |
Ensure that all transport details are finalised. | |
Ensure that all clothing is on schedule and will be ready for your big day. Also purchase any accessories such as shoes and jewellery. | |
Two weeks before |

Contact any wedding guests that have not responded to your wedding invitations. | |
Enjoy your stag of hen party. Not all of your friends invited need to be of the same sex. It is more and more common for theses celebrations to consist of mixed sexes. | |
You may find it useful to compile a list of useful telephone numbers. For example your florist or local taxi company. | |
Consider making a timetable to follow on your big day. For example when you will put on your wedding dress, style your hair, etc. | |
On your wedding day |

If you have a timetable for the day, try to stick to it. | |
Ensure that you have plenty of time by getting up early. This will help to make you feel more relaxed as you will not be rushing. | |
If you are having your hair done at a salon remember to take your headdress. | |
If you have time, compile a list of names as you receive gifts. This will help you later on when you are sending thank you notes. Or better still ask a member of your family of friends write a list for you, | |
Afterwards |

Compile a list of who you received gifts from and send out thank you notes. | |
Notify your bank, doctor, etc. of any name changes. |
